Franklin Middle Takes Top Honors at Darien Lake Music Festival

The Ken-Ton School District was extremely proud to learn that two Franklin Middle School ensembles took top honors at the annual Darien Lake Music Festival.

The competition brings together ensembles from through Western New York and both the Franklin Middle School seventh-grade band and seventh-grade orchestra which both performed exceptionally.

The band, led by Michael Ihde, and the orchestra, led by Amanda McCormick, each earned a "Level Gold Outstanding" rating and won first-place in their respective categories.

Following the performances, the judges noted style and well-balanced percussion both of which were goals set by Mr. Ihde for students prior to the competition.

Students also had a wonderful time enjoying the park, some getting the opportunity to experience the rides for the first time.
